As you can imagine there is a wide variation. In a smaller city you could see prices as low as $1,200 to $1,500 per month. In Colorado Springs more typical rates are $1,500 to $3,000 per month depending on the number of bedrooms and baths in the unit and if there is a carport or garage. Of course the level of furnishings and accessorizing will also determine the price. But remember that you are getting more, MUCH more than a hotel room – see the price comparison immediately below.
In order to give you a feel for how corporate housing compares to other alternatives in Colorado Springs we have chosen a two month stay for a corporate trainer who is traveling with his wife.
The options we investigated:
The first option we will look at is a typical mid range hotel; second is an average extended stay hotel; third is an upscale extended stay hotel and last is our own short term housing arrangement (all pricing updated as of January 2008).
A mid range hotel – Radisson Hotel (www.radisson.com); 1645 N. Newport Road; Colorado Springs, CO 80916 - 719/597 7000. This one bedroom suite (two rooms - living room and separate bedroom) features include wireless high speed internet access, microwave, and a refrigerator (in a small kitchen area). If you go to the Raddison web site you can get their rack rates - but we called the hotel and got their lowest and best corporate rate of $109.00 per night - $3,370.00 per 30 day month.
This is a very nice hotel only minutes from the airport (is that an advantage?). This is a Radisson “president’s award” winner - this hotel does feature an indoor heated pool, exercise facility, and game room. Other conveniences include a full service business center, gift shop, library, and of course room service. Notwithstanding that, as at any hotel you would have the extra expense of food, washing clothes, and other miscellaneous expenses associated with a hotel stay. And of course you and your family would have to live in a hotel room for two months.
Here are some photos of this Radisson and the room that we priced for this comparison:

An average extended stay hotel – Extended Stay America (www.extendedstayamerica.com); 5855 Corporate Drive; Colorado Springs CO, 80919 - 719/266 4206. Their web site says: "A Studio Suite here provides fully-equipped kitchens and plenty of work space". Other amenities include: refrigerator, microwave, and stovetop; a workspace with computer data port; free local phone calls; personalized voice mail; iron and full size ironing board; on site guest laundry; dining and cooking utensils provided; wireless high-speed Internet access (extra fees apply).
The daily price from the Extended Stay America website for this stay would be $53.99 per night - but again we called the office and got a lower rate of $51.99 per night or $1,559.70 per 30 day month. This price reflects the minimal environment you receive at this lower end extended stay facility as shown in the images below (from the Extended Stay America web site).

A quick review of the images above shows that what you get at Extended Stay America is little more than a hotel room with a small kitchen squeezed in. Even with two people this small space will soon become crowded and uncomfortable.
An upscale extended stay hotel – Marriott’s Residence Inn (www.marriott.com); 3880 North Academy Boulevard; Colorado Springs, CO 80917 - 719/574 0370. As you would expect at this Mobile three star facility you will enjoy complimentary hot breakfast buffet daily and complimentary hospitality time with beer, wine and soda served Monday through Thursday evenings. There is a seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub with a children's playground area, sport court, and sand volleyball court.
Most suites feature a fireplace and cable TV with HBO. There are fully equipped kitchens including a conventional oven, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and all cooking and eating utensils. You also get a speakerphone with voice mail and free wireless Internet service.
The daily price from the Marriott website for this stay would be $139.00 per night - but as before we called the office and found their corporate rate for extended stays to be $119.00 per night or $3,570.00 per 30 day month. This price reflects a long term stay price for a two bedroom (one is enclosed and private, the other is an open loft) Penthouse Suite - this multilevel suite comes with 2 queen beds, 1 sofa bed, and 2 baths.
