Pet Policy:

We have found that very few short term (corporate) rentals will allow pets at all.  That being the case, we will consider allowing you to have no more than two domesticated (house broken) cats or dogs stay with you during your stay.  Note that NO OTHER pets of any kind are allowed.

As compensation for this courtesy we charge a non-refundable pet cleaning fee of $300.00 – payable in advance.  Note that this fee is NOT a damage deposit – any damage done by your pet(s) will be withheld from your general security deposit.  This fee is simply our way of being sure we can clean carpets, bring in a ozone machine, or do anything else necessary to insure that our next guests have no indication at all that a pet was in residence before them.  The fee is non-refundable and compensates us for any extra expense we might incur while providing you with the privilege and convenience of having your pets with you.

In addition we require that each guest with pets vacate the townhome two full days before the end of your rental term to allow for any needed cleaning or freshening.  You will be paying the full rent for those two days.

Lastly, there is an additional monthly rental fee charged if you want your pets with you.  The minimum additional rent is $150/month for one small pet.  A higher fee will be charged for large (over 30 lbs each) or multiple pets.

We understand how important it is to keep your pets with you and have calculated our extra charges based on past experience and a desire to be as cost effective for you as possible.  If you rent with another provider that doesn’t allow pets, you will have to board your pets elsewhere.  For your convenience, a full listing of sources for boarding your pet can be found at http://www.yellowpages.com by entering “Pet Boarding & Kennels” in the Business Name field and “Colorado Springs, CO” in the City and State field and then pressing the Search button.

In early 2008 we called the following boarding facilities to inquire about boarding a typical tabby cat and a mid-sized basset hound of about 25 lbs for a three month period.  Details for the three sample pet boardings site are shown below:

Clearview Animal Boarding
3928 Hancock Expressway
Colorado Springs, CO 80911
(719) 393-8075

Cat $11.00 per day - Dog $18.00 per day (the dog is walked a couple of times a day).

Canine Care Center
7580 Ponca Rd.
Colorado Springs, CO 80908
(719) 495-4209

Cat $8.75 per day - Dog $14.00 per day (three walks a day) - Kennels are all internal (they described them as not kennels, runs with front and rear area).

Lucky Dog
4403 Mark Dabling Blvd.
Colorado Springs, CO 80907
(719) 599-9663

1 day free with every 15 nights – further discounts may be available. Doesn’t board cats - Dogs are $18.00 per night for straight boarding that includes putting the dog into their “deck area” a few times a day for exercise.  If you want “day care” where your dog is in a day care setting with other dogs the price is $24.00 per day for half days and $27.00 per day for full days.  They suggest that you bring your own dog food.

Note that we don’t recommend any of these facilities and you should carefully choose your own facility based on your personal need.

As a comparison, we calculated what the total cost would be to board one 25 lb dog for one, two, and three months at our rates and those quoted above by the three boarding facilities:

Our Prices - $450 for one month - $600 for two months - $750 for three months.

Clearview Animal Boarding - $540 for one month - $1,080 for two months - $1,620 for three months.

Canine Care Center - $420 for one month - $840 for two months - $1,260 for three months.

Lucky Dog – straight boarding - $540 for one month - $1,080 for two months - $1,620 for three months.

As you can clearly see our pricing to allow your pets to stay with you is extremely competitive.  Beyond that, by boarding your pet at a commercial facility you will not be able to enjoy them during your stay, they may experience the trauma of being away from you, and they are exposed to other animals that could cause illness or injury.
